Jack-O-Lantern Contest Guidelines
This year's Spirits, Shadows &
Secrets of Arrow Rock event on Oct. 30, begins a festive new tradition
with the Jack-O-Lantern Contest. All event ticketholders are welcome to
enter the contest. Prizes (which include Lyceum Theatre tickets) will
be awarded in the following categories:

- Most Outstanding Jack-O-Lantern
- Most Historical Jack-O-Lantern
- Most Hysterical Jack-O-Lantern (funniest entry)
- Scariest Jack-O-Lantern
- The Jack-O-Lantern Prodigy Prize (for children 12 and under)
- Jack-O-Lanterns should be carved prior to delivery at the event.
- The contest is open exclusively to Spirits, Shadows & Secrets ticketholders.
- Each ticketholder may enter up to three jack-o-lanterns in the contest.
- Jack-O-Lanterns will be collected at the event entrance. If any unusual set up is required for the jack-o-lantern display, participants will be encouraged to deliver their jack-o-lantern directly to the judging area at the Old Schoolhouse.
- Please include a candle or battery-operated light with each jack-o-lantern.
- Each jack-o-lantern should be labeled with the artist's name,
address and telephone number, either written in permanent marker on the
pumpkin or on a label that is securely attached to the pumpkin. If the
entrant is 12 or younger, please note their age on the label so they
will be elible for the Prodigy Prize.
- All entries must be received by 8:15 on event night.
- Judging will take place at 8:30 p.m. on the Old Schoolhouse lawn.
Entrants are not required to be present to win.
- Entrants may retrieve their jack-o-lanterns after judging, or may leave them at the event for display and eventual disposal.
